Who are your counselors, friends, and advisers?

Let’s keep in mind that the type of counselors, friends, and advisers you have will determine how far you will go in life, both spiritually and physically. The question is, who do you surround yourself with? And what kind of counseling and advice are you receiving?

Remember always, that just one word of advice carries enough power that is able to turn your life around completely, either negatively or positively. The right advice can cause you to rise to a point where even the sky becomes your limit, while a wrong one can reduce you to nothing.

Folks, without godly counselors and counseling, purposes are disappointed. In other words, where there is no godly counsel and advice, people's life purposes, visions, and plans are disappointment. Without good counsel, faithful deliberation, implementation, and application, plans will fail regardless of much effort.

We must go back to seek the Divine Counselor (The Holy Spirit) for counseling, understanding, knowledge, the fear of God, and wisdom.

God Himself will be our power and might and He will cause us to have accurate judgement and to make wise decisions in order to make a positive difference. Additionally, we must never forget nor neglect those whom God has empowered with wisdom in special offices and talents so that we will not rush our destinies by making decisions that will rob our futures and prevent us from fulfilling our life purposes. This is why God appointed counselors and advisors for mighty men like David, Moses, etc.:

David — 1Chronicles27. 32 Also Jonathan, David's uncle, was a counselor, a man of understanding, and a scribe; and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni tutored the king's sons. 33 Ahithophel was counselor to the king; and Hushai the Archite was the king's friend. 34 Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar succeeded Ahithophel; and Joab was the commander of the king's army. (2 Samuel 12; Psalm 51).

Moses— Exodus 31.

1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,

2 See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:

3 And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

4 To devise artistic works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in bronze,

5And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship...11.

(Exodus18-Jethro; Exodus28.3; 35.31-35; 36; 1Kgs7.14; 2Chronicles2.7; men of wisdom in craft).

Scriptures:

*Proverbs 11:14Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in abundance of counselors there is victory.

*Proverbs 15 (ESV)

22 Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.

23 To make an apt answer is a joy to a man, and a word in season, how good it is!

24 The path of life leads upward for the prudent, that he may turn away from Sheol beneath.

1Kings 1:12 "So now come, please let me give you counsel and save your life and the life of your son Solomon.

Proverbs 15:21 Folly is joy to him who lacks sense, But a man of understanding walks straight.

Proverbs 20:18 Prepare plans by consultation, And make war by wise guidance.

1 Corinthians 12:4 There are different gifts, but the same Spirit...11.

With every advice and in any counseling session, we must make sure to seek Christ—the chief Counselor—in that conversation. Surround yourself with people who are true friends and have a Spirit of vision and direction (John15.13-15; Proverbs18.24; Matthew 12.50; Genesis 18.18).

You must seek godly counseling and not despise it. Regardless of who you are, remember that the type of people you surround yourself with can cause you to have victory or to fail. Lastly, for any decision you make out of an ungodly advice or counseling, you will pay the price in this life and in addition you will give an account before Yahweh. The Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon.

Shalom
